Your Privacy Matters

DayPage was built with your privacy at its core. We believe your personal journaling is deeply private, and we designed our app to respect that. DayPage is a local-first app -- your journal entries, moods, and reflections stay on your device by default.

DayPage stores all data locally on your device by default. Optional iCloud Sync and Duo Mode features are fully opt-in and under your control.

Data Stored Locally

DayPage stores the following information on your device using Apple's secure storage:

Journal Entries: Morning check-ins, evening reflections, and weekly reviews
Quick Notes: Short notes you capture throughout the day
Mood Data: Your mood tracking selections and history
Streaks: Your journaling streak counts and dates
Custom Prompts: Personalized prompts you create
App Settings: Your preferences for themes, dark mode, notifications, and widgets

iCloud Sync (Optional)

DayPage offers optional iCloud synchronization to keep your journal entries synced across your Apple devices. When enabled:

Your data is stored in your personal iCloud account
Syncing uses Apple's end-to-end encrypted iCloud infrastructure
We never have access to your iCloud data
You can enable or disable cloud sync at any time in Settings

iCloud Sync is entirely optional. You can use DayPage fully offline with all data stored only on your device.

Third-Party Services

DayPage uses third-party large language model providers to power certain premium features, such as personalized reflections, mood narratives, and monthly summaries. These services are provided by:

Google (Gemini)
OpenAI
xAI (Grok)

When these features are used, only aggregated, anonymized data is sent to these providers. This includes:

Your selected mood (e.g., "good" or "okay")
Entry type (morning, evening, or weekly)
Aggregated statistics (total entries, streak length, mood distribution)
Your prompt responses (to generate personalized reflections)

No personally identifiable information (name, email, Apple ID, or device ID) is ever sent to these services. All requests are routed through our secure server and are not used to train any third-party models.

These features are entirely optional and only available to premium subscribers. Free users are never affected by third-party data processing.

Duo Mode (Optional)

DayPage includes an optional Duo Mode that lets you journal together with a partner. When you opt into Duo Mode:

You choose which entries to share with your connected partner
Shared entries are transmitted securely between paired accounts
You can disconnect from Duo Mode at any time
Remote notifications are used to alert your partner of shared updates

Duo Mode is entirely opt-in. You must explicitly connect with a partner and choose what to share.

Notifications

DayPage uses notifications for:

Morning and evening journaling reminders (local, optional)
Streak milestone celebrations (local)
Duo Mode partner updates (remote, only when Duo Mode is active)

You can customize or disable all notifications in Settings or in your device's notification preferences.

Information We Do NOT Collect

DayPage does not collect, access, or transmit:

Your location data
Your contacts or address book
Your browsing history
Device identifiers for tracking purposes
Any data to third-party analytics or advertising services
Personal identifiers to any third-party service providers

In-App Purchases

DayPage offers optional premium features via in-app purchases. These transactions are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not have access to your payment information, credit card details, or Apple ID.

Your Data, Your Control

You have full control over your data:

Cloud Sync Toggle: Enable or disable iCloud sync at any time
Duo Mode: Choose exactly what you share with your partner
PDF Export: Export your entries as PDF files locally on your device
Notifications: Customize which notifications you receive
Delete: Remove individual entries or all data at any time
Full Removal: Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data

Children's Privacy

DayPage is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since data is stored locally on the device by default and is not transmitted to us, we have no way to identify or collect information from any users, including children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
